Goa Portuguesa came into being on 3rd December 1988. It was started by Dr. Suhas Awchat with the sole intention of serving and popularising ethnic Goan food among food-crazy Mumbaikars. In addition to serving the iconic Goan dishes such as Vindaloo and Balchao, Goa Portuguesa offers a wide variety of traditional Hindu vegetarian dishes, thus dispelling the myth that Goans eat only fish. Goa Portuguesa is famous the world over, having won a number of national and international awards, rave reviews from press and media, and the devoted patronage of gourmets. The recipes are researched, modified and standardised by Master Chef Deepa Suhas Awchat to suit today's healthy palate, while retaining the authenticity of each dish.
